Arc shot
This is some more footage from filming our practice film. Sinead was able to produce a accurate arc shot thanks to the gym floor circle.
Also in this clip, we show how we were worried that the basketball shot was going to break the 180 degree rule, luckily we edited it and it worked out.

On set vlog
This is our blog from Waitrose during the process of filming for our Practice Film. The girls decided they wanted a camera angle that was a bit different and gives off the feeling of a 'spy' shot, though I wasn't so keen on it. Although having edited it in to our film now, I feel it adds an element of interest, though I am not so sure of the official camera angle term of 'camera in basket'

Our trampoline dolly shot
It is probably very clear just how excited and proud we are of this make shift dolly camera shot! We definitely want to make sure that we get into the habit of filming ourselves whilst on shots that we find particularly interesting or perhaps difficult to construct. So this is our first 'on set, behind the scenes' footage. Although the phone was hand held so excuse the standard of the footage, I think we were all just getting a little excited at the prospect of the shot. In the beginning of the clip, the trampoline was pulled to far on one side (Rachel) so we were originally unsure if it was going to work. Thankfully both Anna and Rachel found a medium in order to pull a particularly heavy trampoline and myself! So this short clip just shows how we persevered and ended up with a shot that we are very happy with!
Vlog: Editing stress
During the process of editing our practice film, I think we can all identify with the upcoming stresses of editing and getting shots, transitions etc to all flow, hence working through lunch and after school! Just a short vlog here, that originally was Sinead's attempt at an individual, although we all soon ruined that and it became, in fact, our first full group vlog! Perhaps we won't do these in future..

Equipment day
Our make-shift dollying shot was definitely the highlight of filming on Friday! Pushing the trampoline back wards and forwards in the gym, along with me balancing on top of it and filming a vlog same time, it was all very eventful! Although this taster of filming, finding shots and coming up with new ways to do it, is extremely exciting. So far it seems I definitely prefer filming and setting up shots, rather than editing. Considering on Friday we had no real plan of filming or any kind of concept in our heads, I feel it went really well!

Split Screen
I wanted to blog this UPS Logistics advert because of its use of the split screen throughout. It seems that this use of camera technique is growing ever popular within recent advertisements. Including the latest John Lewis advert of which I have previously blogged. I think the use of a split grabs the audience's attention more, as you have to look and identify with both sides of the screen. I'd like to explore this technique further and possibly use it within our film opening, as I feel it would be a relevant and modernized camera angle and feature

Moderator's Report- Summer 2012
Moderator's Report - Summer 2012
Below is the full moderator's report for our centre from Summer 2012 coursework unit:
"Thank you for your prompt submission of the centre’s entries for this series. The work was securely packaged, the central hub for the blogs was appreciated and the candidates’ blogs were easy to navigate, despite the additional examination related posts. The centre’s comments were clear and referred to the appropriate level and mark descriptors. Marking was in-line with what is considered to be the agreed national standard for this unit. In research and planning, there was a range of evidence in place for both the groups and the individuals. There was a clear ‘journey’ of progression from the brief to the evaluation across the sample, mainly due to the frequent blog posts. It was clear that the final moving image constructions were result of the detailed research and planning. Video-logs were strong across the sample and candidates posted regularly. It was felt that key concepts, like audience, could have been documented in more detail and the candidates should relate planning to their potential construction whenever possible. It is especially important to link all stages of planning and research when a group changes ‘concept’ midway through the process. The video work made use of forms and conventions which made them clearly readable as openings to films within their chosen genre. Use of sound and the post-production titles were particularly strong from this centre. Editing was generally well considered to create meaning for the viewer. The centre correctly identified the professional film to some of the examples and how framing was successful in creating a cinematic feel. This led to the majority of the candidates falling well inside the Level 4 criteria. In the evaluation element, all candidates responded to the seven stipulated questions showing an understanding of the key concepts, outcomes and the process of construction. A wide range of technologies was successfully employed. The mixture of video commentaries was explored here in detail. It may have been helpful for the centre to identify the different individual candidates in the group commentaries for the moderation process. Some candidates included outtakes of the evaluations, which although entertaining, was unnecessary for the moderating process. Overall, it is clear that the candidates are well supported and that they responded positively to this. The centre has fully embraced the spirit of the specification. It was a pleasure to moderate such a well organsied centre. Thank you."

Prelim shots
Some screen shots from our Prelim, it is yet to be edited which I think were all a little scared about and somehow hoping it will edit itself! Over all it went well and we were happy with our Britney 'Hit me one more time' concept. Rachel's face and the back of my head shot definitely sums up the whole prelim.
First Vlog
Our first vlog! Just a quick summary from Sinead and me about our prelims
