Similar 'typewriter' font opening

Other than the first few opening seconds of this clip, the rest is irrelevant....BUT their opening title sequence, with the strong use of the 'typing' noise and plain white font over a black backround creates a strong opening. This is extremely similar to our vision of potentially including a type writer type sound in some scenes as we definitely feel it fits really went into our 'spy' genre.

Title sequence inspiration

Having done all of our editing of the footage we have, focus turned on potential names or title sequences. Anna thought of 'Checkmate' which originally we all just instantly thought of chess and wasn't particularly keen on it. However the idea of including a definition of 'checkmate' was suggested. This idea reminded Rachel of Beyonce's 'Diva' music video where a definition is included before the music begins. Having then YouTubed it, we all definitely were fond of having a similar opening for our film. The font used in Beyonce's video is also very much like we would want our font to be. I feel without including a definition of 'checkmate' it may be unclear to the audience, as we want to portray the idea 'to wipe out your opponent' rather than the chess game.

Potential Filming vlog/Un-organisation

Attempting to un-successfully film in the snow... Lighting or no lighting, this should not be attempted, far too cold!

Editing

After last weeks lack of motivation and lack of love for our film opening, were definitely feeling a lot better and lot more enthusiastic for our film plot and change of locations. At the moment, were busy editing the new toilet footage, including new angles and movements!
We have definitely renewed our love for our two minute opening and are all really putting in the time, to ensure its the best it can be!

Filming

On Friday, we returned to the glamorous filming location of the school toilets. After watching back our previous footage with a critical and truthful eye we decided that a few shots weren't as smooth as we'd hoped. So we decided to re film the panning up shot of Anna by the sink as she takes off her hundreds of bracelets, which is a rather long process when filming take after take! Eventually we were a lot happier with the shot. We then decided to attempt to get a high angled shot of Anna's hands in order for the audience to view the small yet important detailing of Anna removing her bracelets. It is very important that the emphasis is on Anna's change, as this is what hopefully creates a sense of mystery for the audience. In this image, Sinead was standing on the sinks as Anna yet again removed her bracelets. We feel its particularly important to get a variety of shots from different angles!

Taking full advantage of Sineads mums 'baby tripod' we decided to film shots of Anna in the school lift, with the camera in the corner. This created a 'CCTV' atmosphere that we all really liked. Again, making the audience hopefully question 'who is this girl?' We also filmed a shot with Anna glancing quickly at the camera, perhaps creating a sense of worry that she believes 'everyone knows'...

Previous film opening

This film opening uses such high quality sound and lighting effects that instantly create a very professional and serious tone to the opening.
The smooth camera work was really well done, although they did not include a wide variety of shots, I feel that this is definitely compensated through the quality of the content!
It's interesting that they did not involve many characters to the opening, yet creating a simplistic and effective two minutes.
Watching this has definitely inspired me to ensure our two minute opening is full of high quality content, it seems that although our location of London is exciting and interesting, it definitely makes it a little more difficult to ensure the quality of the camera movements and the ever growing problem of the public walking through the shots.
Therefore the use of one room, like in this opening, would now definitely appeal to me, purely because of the opportunities that I feel are much easier to reach. However we shall power through and stand true to our every growing list of interesting filming locations..
